More Medical Shit - Warning!
Purple wound up back in the Emergency Room last weekend for shortness of breath and chest pain. I figured it was from all the carbon dioxide they pumped into my chest during the gallbladder removal surgery.

They were worried about blood clots so I had a CT scan......after nine pokes to draw blood twice and start an IV. They even called in a physicians assistant since I am a difficult poke (sounds kinky, eh?)

He called in reinforcements and then they used a portable sonogram machine to try and find some veins while they told me to find my "Happy Place". During my zen-like "Happy Place" search I heard the nurse ask him if he was going to use Gigantor

Gigantor?

WTF?!

I said "I may be trying to find my "Happy Place", but I am still here in the room and I can hear you! Jeez!"

Nothing good can come from a needle they refer to as Gigantor. I have a very large, very dark, VERY purple bruise I imagine will hang around for weeks. and that site didn't even work!

They finally got an IV started and did the CT scan. The results came back showing no blood clots, THANK HEAVENS, but........the adrenal tumor found at my only other CT scan in February of this year grew to 2.4 cm now and they said I have an ascending aortic aneurysm measuring 4.3 cm where the normal size is 2-3 cm and surgery to repair it is indicated at 5 cm. They can dissect or rupture (think John Ritter).

So now I wait for a follow up with my primary physician and from there........who knows. Waiting........I am not good at waiting.

I had a PICC line when I was in the hospital too......too bad they don't do that for every blood draw/IV LOL I will try to care for myself......you do the same.

I know how you feel about the IV's. Last time I was in the hospital I was stuck 20 times including my feet and my neck without success. Got a PICC line the next day.

I hear ya.......I am quite tired of needles myself. My veins have had enough and are now apparently hiding! Hoping the aneurysm grows slowly and it is years before surgery is required.....

I hear ya! I feel like a medical soap opera for sure! I kniow I am keeping several doctors in business around these here parts. I have too many "'ologists" Cardiologist, pulmonologist, oncologist etc..... My plan is to be as healthy as I can be. Thanks friend.

    Since those IV's are done so often you would think they would have figured out how to do them by now. When they gave me one in the Air Force they used too large a needle. My arm went cold and senseless. I am convinced they were pumping in the water so fast that my arm wasn't getting any blood.
