Name the Cockroach
Name the Cockroach Apparently there's a zoo on Dartmoor which is giving subscribers the chance to name a cockroach after their ex. For a ã5 you get a certificate and can name one of their cockroaches. (Why are there cockroaches in a zoo?) Apparently this may help you get rid of negative energy after a break up. This amused me and I thought you guys might like to hear about it, but now I think it through, I realise this isn't something I would ever do. I have had some difficult break ups, but I am now on good terms with most of my exes, and I am not on bad terms with any of them. Maybe that shows good choices in the first place, I don't know. I am always attracted to kind people. And I recognise my part when things go wrong - if I can I try to show I am sorry, and not make it any harder than it already is for either of us. I certainly don't blame the ex. Apart from anything else, what's the point, even of they have treated you badly. As I said to a recently-divorced friend of mine, who after a year still spent most of our conversations telling me the latest news about what a snake he was; "what does it matter what he has done now - you certainly don't want him back and he's had to give you money so that you don't have to see him any more. Why give it another thought?" Not always as easy as that in real life of course. So if any of you have any "negative energy" towards an arse you used to know, maybe give Dartmoor Zoo a call? |

I had lots and lots of bad feelings about how I was treated by my ex at the end of our relationship, but can’t really imagine doing something like this. Seems like it would just reinforce and perpetuate the bad karma rather than clearing it. Ingenious fundraising idea, though. If they happened to have an ass needing a name I might be halfway tempted!

After a relationship break-up I try to remain on good terms with the ex; if not possible, I draw a line and not dwell on things.

Yeah. Seems like it just adds fuel to the fire a bit? But some folks may feel relief. I would name a roach Rudy. Just in case he was ever in a race. Everyone could chant “Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!” Have a great day! 💋 Staci

I've been fortunate and am still friends with my Ex-Wife and my ex-girlfriends also. I try not to hold grudges because they usually end up holding you. Thanks and very well said.

I would do it! But I wouldn't name the roach after an ex, even if I might think of one when doing it. lol I would name a roach just for the benefit of the zoo and to pay the fee, which is a way for them to raise money. I would probably make up some name just so the poor roach wouldn't be called "Hey you". Not that roaches care....

Im not the type of person that attracts someone that i would consider naming a roach after. Cant think of any person in my sphere that warrants that. I also would think that holding onto that negative energy cant be good for ones psyche. I mean....scream ..swear.....break a vase....get it out and move on ~ But i guess its also how one feels about roaches....lol

I don't have to go to a zoo to see them, get them in the house. I never name them, I just get the swat and smash them, not that I would do that to an ex, but they are an ex for a reason. My ex husband drives me crazy, but have to see him at Christmas and the children's birthdays.

Except without the bad feelings about the ex. Maybe I should name one after myself for all the times I wish I had behaved better!

I know, it's pointless really, but - I don't know - the idea just appealed to me in terms of the concept, rather than actually thinking it was something worth doing.
