Yes, I notice fewer fakes lately. That's not to say that there aren't still a lot of fake profiles. Searching for women between 20 and 39 within 50 miles of my location brings back the result of 27 obvious fakes within the first 4 pages of the search results.

But I look at my b/f's new member match page from time to time and I notice a big difference now. At one point, it was 100% fake. Now, it seems to be all real-ish women, doing real things like blogging or posting or adding pictures to their accounts.

So yes, there is a difference lately, but it's not a total elimination of obvious fake accounts.

Fewer "fakes", but like lowering the water in a stream after you've removed the rocks that disturb the surface...as the water level drops, more rocks appear.

The fakes that appear now are "better" ones...more cleverly disguised, and providing less information, so that it's harder to pin something false on the profile. I suspect that we're starting to see the scammers who are willing to spend more time to create a few truly believable profiles rather than hundreds of "throwaways".

Nevertheless, nice job! Things are definitely MUCH better now!

Guess some folks are unable to read plain English on your post here Ryan. Talking about billing and kudos ! Good grief !

One can wonder why some don't really want to talk about all the fakes when that's what this post is about. Can we guess why they won't discuss that instead of bring up these other two items?

If in a person doesn't like this site anymore for whatever reasons, simply stop paying to be a premium member. No one is twisting your arm to do so.

You know Vampires/fakes don't like to have a light shed on them as this post is doing, so hell they're trying to change the topic of it. Vampires/fakes also don't see their reflection in a mirror. Need a mirror real close here, for sure.

That's correct. The question is about spammers and seeing that there are less of them and that A F F is actively addressing this issue. Please lets keep it real. If people use every single blog forum to bring out a different problem, the main issue gets lost.

Ryan stated: have you not noticed that there are less SPAMMERS; that's it.

Dear Ryan,

AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!!! Damn are we glad that came from you. Individual voting on the actual response blog is all too often motivated buy a dislike of the person or the profile rather than the actual comment. When we conducted an original post POLL last week (subject no longer matters) it started OK then we started to notice individual posts (replies) were being down voted where a vote was not required. That was amazing and showed that yes, possibly people do use bogus or multiple accounts to lift their point of view or their pet hate of the moment.

Your original blog was more informative about fakes and spammers and does not require an agree/disagree to the article but your new blog comment will probably take a life of its own... Wow.

Hmmm

I'm not a fan of voting in general. Really if there is voting on a blog post, it should be on the original post, not each comment. And I'm sure sock puppet accounts are there simply to vote comments down.

But that's another discussion. I don't think fakes do this. I think real people with multiple accounts do this.

(sorry, my former post omitted to quote yr remark on not being a fan of VOTING)

But that's another discussion. I don't think fakes do this. I think real people with multiple accounts do this.
I noticed a big drop in fakes immediately when I started getting the persistent nag screens to renew my paid membership. I find the nag screens more annoying and persistent, but less expensive. If the site made an effort to eliminate a couple hundred thousand fakes and got it done, that's commendable, in my opinion. But the question has also been raised about real multiple personality disorder people. Not just the ones having multiple profiles, but profiles of multiple genders, posting pix not of themselves. Guys using female profiles because they have more privileges than standard males, getting lots of views because of the pix they post thereby getting lots of emails and using an inordinate amount of the site's resources and wasting customer's time responding to fake profiles. The site seems to allocate resources to relieve symptoms, but neither diagnose address the underlying problems. It's my opinion that the fake profile problem arises because of the click to fuck/find horny sluts/get fucked right now advertising. The women attracted by that advertising see an opportunity to advertise themselves, and they do, still. The men attracted by that advertising are looking for whores and will post or say anything to find a good cheap whore, and your guarantee gives them hope. Despite hundreds or thousands or hundreds of thousands of complaints from both genders, the advertising keeps getting more desperate.

Since you, Ryan, mentioned voting in your comments on both this post and your comments on you kudos post, and expressed your displeasure and activism to have that feature removed, I feel free to reply to that issue as well. In your kudos post replies, you mentioned that voting on A/L was the next feature you wanted to get rid of. I commented on that comment. Now you state how you feel voting should be allowed on blogs, only the original post, not on each individual comment. I may be mistaken, but bloggers that don't want voting on their blogs can already disable this feature. It seems to be enabled on yours. I would agree that people with multiple profiles are misusing the vote feature. But I read a lot more complaints from women about "wanna fuk" emails. Way more. The email feature could be eliminated to rid the site of that abuse. The vote feature could also be removed. I read several complaints about the chat feature today. Doesn't seem that it would be very difficult to remove that as well. Seeing how many non fakes abuse that feature for abuse, consideration should be given to getting rid of it instead of addressing the real problem. But voting on comments does no real harm, in my opinion. Not to me anyway. I do find it interesting to view the votes on both the original post and each comment. But if the site finds it easier and cheaper to eliminate features, I understand.

Fakes are a big problem. In my opinion, a major cause of the problem is with the site's advertising. Fakes and advertising are issues that many complain about and votes are scheduled to be the next feature to go....Beach

I noticed a drop in the number of very obvious names they were using for a short time but they seem to be on the rise again?

It would be lovely to have some way of "flagging" profile that you think is fake. I realize that some folks will be malicious with that, but it could be more like a "if you get more than a dozen in a day" sort of thing rather than having an instant reaction...

there should be a easy button on all pages that users can use to flag accounts as most the fakes you can tell as soon as you can look at them.....or offer a discount or free account to people that are on a lot with some kind of free training. Have some of us in all areas flagging accounts for trade

I've been pretty lucky according to the stories I hear. So I guess I'm doing something right only running across one fake in my time here, it's more the fools that bother me.

Most of the fakes seem too perfect to be real, I have noticed most are looking for men for discreet relationships.

Less fakes you're having a laugh. The site is overrun with them. I'm stunned at how Ghana is now full of beautiful young white women. If I can easily spot fakes why can't your staff?

I have been here quite some time and there are certain periods when a) your restrictions are lax or b) the fakes really multiply. Its generally the worst at the beginning of springtime, do your statistics show that?
