New stuff for Feb 28th release
New stuff for Feb 28th release Some exciting features coming out this wednesday - you can hear about it first here: 1. You can create signatures for your blog and group posts. This way people can know more about you when you posts. 2. Group moderators can make their posts "sticky" so they always stay at the top of their group post lists. (no need to keep bumping posts) 3. Members can create online bling (small graphical icons) to show off their personality. There will be an online bling editor so you can create icons without any special software. You can put lots of blings on your profile, posts, groups, etc as well as trade, sell, or gift them between members. Who knows the possibilities - should be fun to see what members come up with. |

Question here Andrew, Will all of these new features be available to Standard members too, considering I would like to testing some of them out to giving feedback on them. Also, you mention about the chat rooms. Will there ever be anything done to ridding the BOTS that try to redirect members in the chat rooms to other web sites and pay-per-porn sites? I have watched and noticed one common thing in the postings of the BOTS that invade the chat rooms (such as the South Chat Room) and that is they all seem to constantly be using an MSN email address or IM address in the postings. I have reported many of these BOTS that invade the chat rooms with the "report abuse" link to only seeing it take hours or days before the staff does anything to removing the BOTS. There seems to be need of a better response time when reporting a BOT to the site and especially in the chat rooms. If you had a dedicated staff member\members to only monitoring abuse reports of BOTS in chat rooms that would immediately look in to the chat room and observe the postings made by a reported BOT and remove them would help keep some of the members from being redirected to other competition sites; otherwise, the longer the BOT remains in a chat room, the more damage that can be caused in several ways; especially when it comes to paid memberships of this site.

Another suggestion here too that might be something that could be used to "pimping up" Blogs and Groups. A while back we were able to use some of the pure HTML tags in our postings and one that I showed to members was the Scrolling Marquee in the groups and it drew a lot of attention and helped in creating more activity amongst the members. GoddessoftheDawn noticed that, and placed a posting in her Blog on how to doing the marquee to the Bloggers that I showed in the groups and also drew a lot of attention and became a lot of fun for the Bloggers along with the Group members. I would think that it would be a simple process to adding the HTML Marquee to the collection of the other BBS tags such as creating tables and etc... since it is only a tag that the user browsers interpret and takes no resources away from the server such as the font tags (bold, italics, underline, color, face) and table tags. Just an idea Andrew, I think it would be cool to seeing a Marquee on a members Blog description or on a Group of "Welcome to my Blog (title) or Group" scrolling across the screen. The tag would be simple too. For example: [marquee direction="right" bgcolor="0000ff" loop="1" behavior="slide" scrollamount="4" scrolldelay="87" height="5%" width="90%]Welcome to My Blog[/marquee] There are two directions the text could scroll (right or left), the "bgcolor" would declare the color background, the "loop" number would only declare the amount of times the text would go across the screen, "scrollamount" would declare the speed of the text moving, "scrolldelay" would only declare the time between repeating "height" and "width" only defines the dimension of the Marquee. I am sure you know all of this stuff, it is just so others that don't know how the Marquee tag would work. One thing if you take notice of, many of the members enjoy the use of the BBS tags in postings and also enjoy learning new things that are not always about sex here too Nick

Nice add ons but I agree with Upncum69! You have to get rid of the ability for anyone to google search a name to see our blogs!

|
Very cool! I'm not the most techo-savvy person, so don't take advantage of all the changes you make, but I really like that you're always trying to make improvements to the site. Thanks!

Nice improvements. I would like to be able to restrict my webcam (i.e. only members in one chat room, only members by handle, etc.). Are you thinking about adding that feature any time in the near future? Thanks, hippie

Cool stuff there... can't wait to check em o ut Wet_p

Chiming in with upncumn69......Details and our opinions can be found on my [blog stormrs] blog (post is linked in the header), and my post will link to one on Cozy_Red's blog which contains almost 150 comments on this topic! If you should die before me, ask if you can bring a friend........

Hiya Andrew... the chat room improvements sound like a great thing. This is the lowest quality chat room I've ever used, so I'm excited about the upcoming improvements. As for moderators being able to make a post sticky.. great ! Will we also be able to "unsticky" them ? I know.. silly question, but you just never know. Another nice feature would be the ability to edit posts and new topics. There's also this bug in banning members that doesn't seem to be resolved from last fall. We should have the ability to ban a member who isn't part of our group. We've had issues with members joining a group, posting inappropriate stuff, and unjoining so they cannot be banned. And while we delete the posts, and contact CS.. it's be simpler (and less time consuming for your employees) if we could simply take care of it ourselves. Anyways.. looking forward to the new features. Keep up the good work.

We have two people 24/7 looking for bots in chat rooms. While we get 95% of the bots, we need to find a way that people in the chat room can block someone (e.g., if 5 people in the room block someone, they are blocked for N hours). Do you mean blocked from the chatroom? If so there would have to be a separate table, to record current blocks, within a specific time period, thats its done on a chatroom, by chatroom basis. I dont know much about cgi, I am more of a php person, it would have to use the cgi equivalent of count(), because using mysql_num_rows would slow things down, the code would go something like this: if($blockedby <= 4){ fine }elseif($blockedby >= 5){ show error, stating whatever about not being able to use the chatroom, for so many hours exit; } <= is less and equals >= is more and equals Evil

In concern to the privacy issue about search engines and member handles that keeps being brought up. From my knowledge, there are measures that can be taken to help in reducing the indexing of web pages that are done by the search engines robots\spiders. Still there is no guarantee of members privacy even with that. There are HTML tags and also the robots.txt protocol that can be put in the header of web pages that would disallow or allow the robots\spider from indexing an entire website or specific files and directories; however, this will not help if a web page has already been indexed and cached by one of the search engines; therefore, there is no guarantee of privacy with that either. For myself, I find it amusing in a way that members are so concern over this with the search engines results when typing in their handles. I could understand the alarm of this better if a member real name was appearing in the results; however, our identities are masked by a handle used (fake name). I mean really think about it as to who is truly responsible for our privacy in what we may post on any web site. If we are posting personal information that can identify our selves to others that we wish not to knowing that we are a member of a site like this one or any other one, then that is our fault if someone finds it. If we are going around telling everyone what our handle is on a site and don't want to be known as a member of a web site as this one or some other one, it is our fault if they find information about us. Anything that we post that has anything to do with identifying us to others that we do not want to know about us or identifying us with (be it text or photos) is our responsibility to protecting our own privacy and not someone else's.

luvpump replies on 26/2/2007 11:47 pm: Can you explain "pause"? PAUSE Verb 1. pause - interrupt temporarily an activity before continuing; "The speaker paused" hesitate hem and haw - utter `hems' and `haws'; indicated hesitation; "He hemmed and hawed when asked to address the crowd" scruple - hesitate on moral grounds; "The man scrupled to perjure himself" delay - act later than planned, scheduled, or required; "Don't delay your application to graduate school or else it won't be considered" 2. pause - cease an action temporarily; "We pause for station identification"; "let's break for lunch" intermit, break cut off, disrupt, interrupt, break up - make a break in; "We interrupt the program for the following messages" catch one's breath, take a breather, rest, breathe - take a short break from one's activities in order to relax take five - take a five-minute break; "The musicians took five during the rehearsal" take ten - take a ten minute break; "The players took ten during the long rehearsal" pause = delay....

Well when it comes to eating crow I must say I gobble it up. I guess I've miss judged you Luv pump you and staff have improved alot of features here. And add some pretty nifty new ones as well, Although there are still a few minor glitches. But hey who's perfect except me(lol). I do have one small question though why is this site so strict about pictures in general? I for one doodle a bit and with a handle like RatMaster I'd like to post one or two of my Rat doodles. I've countless times posted photos that weren't me and they pass. Then I've post some that were actually me and they were rejected because staff said it wasn't me. I'm curious how does your staff distinguish these photos. I can post a photo of a 90 year old man and I'm 37 and it pass, but I post a photo of myself and it is rejected just don't make sense to me. Also this is a very sexually charged site so why so strict on photos to begin with?

.... that lady about the 'pausing'.... she just wants her post to get more exposure by predating it like Andrew is doing with his posts, so they 'stick' at the top of the 'new posts' list for days .... that kinda pause it seemz....

Great more new features, shame the basic operation of the site is so flaky. It's a lottery to broadcast a cam reliably. As a paying member it's not unreasonable to expect a decent level of service.

All the new changes are things I'll like, but I'm wondering if it has come at the cost of increased bugs and glitches. I hope things get smoothed out soon. Do you think problems with being banned from my favourite group day after day is related to this?
